Shimadzu columns feature a unique filling process, strict quality control throughout the entire production process, and quality certification to meet more stringent quality requirements. The Shimadzu column consists of a column tube, a pressure cap, a ferrule (seal ring), a sieve plate (filter), a joint, and a screw. The column tube is mostly made of stainless steel. When the pressure is not higher than 70 kg/cm2, thick-walled glass or quartz tube can also be used. The inner wall of the tube requires a high degree of smoothness. In order to improve the efficiency of the column and reduce the wall effect, the inner wall of the stainless steel column is polished. Some people also apply fluoroplastic on the inner wall of the stainless steel column to improve the smoothness of the inner wall, and the effect is the same as polishing. Also used is a fused silica or glass lining for thin tube columns. The column joints at both ends of the Shimadzu column are equipped with sieve plates, which are sintered stainless steel or titanium alloy with a pore size of 0.2~20m (5~10?m). Depending on the particle size of the filler, the purpose is to prevent the filler from leaking out.
